Dirtypaws is. . . .

now 31 and not really sure where her 20s went. I guess I can’t complain. I’ve had a lot of fun so far but sometimes it’s hard to look back and see who I was at 21 and who I am now, 10 years later. Seems like it wasn’t that long ago that I could sleep in on the weekends and now I’m up usually by 7:30. I am an adoptee and an adoptive mother. I am a writer whose has always enjoyed sharing my thoughts even though some people find me to be a little too open with my opinions. I have been married for ten years this December and have two adorable children. Gracie who turns 3 in July and Porter whowill turn 5 20 days after his sister’s bday. I have lived in both southern and northern California but prefer the south. Sure, there is a lot to do out in CA and the weather is great and the beaches are close but when push comes to shove, I’m a GA girl through and through.
Apparently I’m NONE of those things. Now I’m 34. I live in London. My kiddos are 5 and 7 and after three months in London my daughter has a British accent. I miss my friends and family but I’m also OK spending my life with my best friend traveling the world. I still love my southern fried food but I’m used to not driving and walking everywhere. I wish my kids got along better as I feel like I’m “Judge Judy” most days. I wish I could spend more time with my hubby, but work and life is always calling. I don’t like sweets but when I do, don’t be the person who finished my ice cream (even if it’s been in there for three months.)

Wanted to say thank you…my husband and I are both white and adopted 2 kids of our own. Reggie is 7 now (was 3 when we got him) and Terasa is 21 months (2 months at first). Reggie is biracial and Rasa (thats what we call her), is african american…your is the only site that I’ve found that I totally relate to…have found useful info on (especially the pics of hair-dos)…and just enjoy! Thank you…you are appreciated!

I really admire your dedication to learning about your daughter’s hair. Your love and devotion to your family shines through your words vividly. I was searching for african american hair styles to try on myself, as I have stopped using relaxers and need to re-learn how to take care of my hair in its normal state; I found your site, and it made my day. Many of us african american women are afraid of our natural hair and have lost touch with how to care for it. I am so touch to see a woman of a different race putting in so much effort to learn things many of us have forgotten or never learned. Kudos to you, and god bless you and your beautiful family
also thanks for the tips

Hello,
I’m not sure how I came across your blog anymore, but I too have the special joy of being an adoptive mother (to a sweet boy). I have a question that I’d like to ask… could you email me?
Thanks!
